Thinking about writing a book and need some motivation to get started? Here are five good reasons to write:
1) to express yourself.
Share the best of yourself. Cut through the small talk and the chatter to what's important; express the secret feelings and perceptions that don't fit into polite conversation. Show your personal vision of the world, which is unique.
2) to entertain yourself.
Writing is a challenge, an adventure. When you're in the thick of it, you can feel thoroughly absorbed. Write to add color, excitement, and meaning to your days.
3) to keep yourself company.
You never have to feel lonely as long as you can write. Writing is a conversation -- with yourself, with your future reader, with the books that have inspired you. You can also create characters who come alive in your imagination.
4) to live other lives.
In real life, there are limits. In your writing, you can be anyone or anything. You can try on different lives, become a different person for a while, transport yourself to another place or time.
5) to touch other people.
Offer your writing as a gift to others. Your writing can move people, make them feel intense emotions, keep them up all night passionately turning pages. You can create characters to keep them company. You can make their lives richer and more beautiful.

Well first you need to pick a theme. A couple examples:
1. Love triumphs over all
2. Good will always defeat evil
3. Orphans for some reason are always the main characters in stories these days...(just kidding about this one, but it always seems to be true!)
After you have picked a theme, you need to create your characters. (These two steps can be vise-versa, it doesn't really matter.) You need make sure that your characters are fully created though. They need to have personalities, faults, secrets, and a believable past. Once you have chosen a main character (or characters), you need to decide what the situation you're going to put them in. This situation is eventually going to lead up to the plot.
Every plot makes the readers ask themselves a question. (Will Frodo destroy the Ring? Will Harry Potter defeat Voldemort? etc.) You need to create a plot that will make the readers ask that question, and make them want to keep reading to find out.
I know I haven't really given you any straight-forward ideas, but I'm sure as you have read this, some have popped into your mind. I just don't really believe that when a person gives someone a topic for a story, it makes what the writer is writing, not quite their own. I dunno...just something I believe.
Good luck!

I let all my ideas get out of my soul, of my heart and of my mind and emboss in the PC screen in front of me. For me writing is one way to relax and escape from the boring world of reality in other unseen worlds that only the mind of a fantasy dreamer can access.First of all you have to believe to yourself. Writing a story is a very difficult task not only in writing it but after you have finished it get it published! You have to show the synopsis of the story to some people and ask them for advices and opinions. When you have started writing it you should be ready for many hours of writing and erasing and then rewriting. I don't want to scare you. You also have to know that some days you wont have even a drop of inspiration and other days you would write ten pages! One last thing, it may be hard to write and publish a book but the reward will be a hundred times bigger!!!
Good luck And good writing!!!

u need more than just an idea. but if ur short on those, try starting a story w/ secret that one of ur characters doesn't want anyone to tell.
or, someone leaves a note on a car windshield.
a man is watching the news, and sees himself profiled as either missing, or dead. or even wanted for a murder he didn't commit.
a priest meets the woman of his dreams just before he is to be ordained.
a package meant for a military base is delivered to a suburban family by mistake.
u could also buy "the writer's idea book" at amazon. people seem to like it.

I can't give you ideas, because they have to come from you. Otherwise it wouldn't be your work. But I can tell you where I find my ideas. I look around me at my life, and focus on the things that I think are interesting and may interest others. I look at the library to see what people are reading. I go to parks and plays and out to the theater and see what's going on. I read magazines, newspapers, and surf online. I read books galore of every subject. Then I sit down and ask myself, what do I want to read that is not available to me or hasn't been written yet? And I write that.

Isn't that your job? As much as I would love to help you make this task come full circle, most writers these days tend to not be so forthcoming on ideas--because it may end becoming a conflict of interest later on; should that novel be published--and another is in the wings...being nearly identical.
So everyone guards theirs with jealous fervor.
And depending on your targeted genre, it would be tough to determine what you need--just by blindly laying out thoughts and words on paper.

While trying to think of some ideas for a book try listening to some of your favorite songs, ones that will help you stretch your imagination. You may need to use headphones.Try thinking about what to write late at night
at your desk, couch, recliner or whereever you feel most comfortable without irritating distractions to interfere with
your concentration.

I am very sorry but your question is very vague. You cannot tell someone an idea to write a book. Trust me it is a very large undetaking and only you, yourself, can tell you what you are wanting to haul. Look around you and see what inspires you the most. Maybe you see something and feel something from it and go from there. Just look around you and see what stands out to you and maybe what you can relate with. I am sorry my ANSWER was vague but there is really nothing anyone can do for you, dear.
