What do yaul think of:

Leonard Nemoy is in
William Shatner has said he might

I read somewhere Michelle Nichols, the guy who played Checkov, are being talked to.

But none will play their original charectors.

They will be recasted.

They'll have cameo side roles.

There has been a lot of publicity on this already. The trouble isn't getting them back to be part of the production, it's finding actors to fill certain roles. For example, Leonard Nimoy has selected the young actor (Zachary Quinto) who will play Spock since the character doesn't age like "mere humans". He believes he's found the match he's looking for and I think other long-time fans will like his choice. Both Nimoy and Shatner will be in the film and it will be released in 2008.

BTW Uhura was played by 'Nichele' Nichols...not Michelle.

(And no, Tom Cruise is not being considered and from what I can see, they've already made selections...they just haven't been pubicized yet. Just like NG, it seems they were looking for actors with theatrical experience and ones that haven't already been type-cast. If TC was part of the production the show would crash. I certainly wouldn't watch it and I doubt many fans would!)

Matt Damon is already older than William Shatner grew to become into in 1966. i've got not heard approximately Tom yet which could be a humorous tale. besides, Gene Roddenberry did not choose them to do any prequels - they disregarded his needs on corporation and it grew to become right into a huge turkey. in the event that they mess this up will particularly kill the franchise - the final 2 movies did so badly i'm very shocked they're already attempting to hold it lower back. they have been making Trek non-provide up because of the fact 1986, and there could be no shame in saying it needs a lengthy hiatus - seem on the fulfillment of Dr Who after a lengthy era away. i might fairly save looking at reruns of robust Trek than seeing yet another mediocre movie or sequence.

Gary Sinise is rumored to be cast as McCoy. At last notice, Kirk was going to be played by Matt Damon. But that was only a rumor on iMDB several months ago. nothing since.
