I'll have to give you two favorites: The Shining and It.
"The Shining" is rich in characterization, situation and dark menace; the Overlook Hotel is one of the scariest literary environments he ever created, and the most fully realized.
"It" is his masterwork---a nightmarish odyssey stretching across decades and involving an entire township, yet focusing on the love and friendship of a small group of misfits; relating not only their shared childhood, but the adults they've become as a result of their experiences, banding together once again to face the Bad Thing.

My favorite book from the vast writings of Stephen King would have The Stand. It speaks to the heart of humanity and how it rebounds from unspeakable chaos. Of course the theme of good versus evil is also handle with his usual humor. Trash Can Man is one sick man, but he is sooo gross and his mind is sooo warped that he becomes a caricature of himself. Yet, most of the characters are real and so alive that they just jumped off the page for me. I loved the old lady: "I'm 102 and I still make my own bread.." Classic!!!!
I also liked Bag of Bones; not one of his great, well known ones, but it is a neat, scary, and sentimental ghost story! If you haven't checked it out, please do! It is worth the read!!!

The Stand, then Misery and I loved The Talisman, too.
I'm ashamed to admit it, but haven't read any of The Dark Tower series yet. I have a few of them, though, so maybe I can start.
Liked It, too. And Cell, because the idea of "pulsing" someone sounds like a good call. (Yes, that was pitifiul.)

It is so hard to pick a favourite. I liked Misery. I also enjoyed the movie. At the moment I am reading "Dreamcatcher". I have only read 100 pages or so, so it is too early to tell.
