I live in the retirement state, Florida. I am on Disability, SSI, and Widows Pension. I know this is nobodys business, but mine. But this is also warning other people, before they decide to move here in SW Florida. All I get is a total of $583.00 a month and $10.00 in Food Stamps. My rent alone is $301.00 (housing). And since I live in Fl. A/C is a must, and my electric bills are between 100.00-150.00 a month. Not to mention my other bills. I just can't seem to make ends meet. I need to get out of this state fast.. Please help with some answers.

social security benefits are not regional...they are tacked to you. if you receive $583 from disability there, you are gonna get that anywhere...that is what you have earned in your lifetime...it does not go up or down in other states.
So - that is def something to think about when relocating....(not a cash cow).
I live in California and the wages are good here, but the cost of living is extremely high... your rent of $301 is a god send....i spend way over $1,000 just on rent (and thats the norm) of an apartment.
now figure in our gas & electric, cars, insurance, food, clothes, cable, computer etc etc etc

you may just wanna consider staying where you are and get a couple of part time jobs.

good luck :)

Blue October is 100% right. Florida has no state tax which alone makes it one of the cheapest states to reside in. Your type of income does not change when you move to another state, that wont help. I am thinking that you may want to call your local housing authority to see if section 8 rent is available since you don't make a lot of money.
