you cannot remove the smell. i don't care what you do or what anyone tells you. if someone who hasn't been in your house comes in the room with the animal stain they will be able to smell it, because it is in the pad and you can't get that out. they make expensive enzyme cleaner for pet stains that you can get from the vet, but i have tried everything and nothing works. including paying someone a ton of money to steam clean it and put special cleaner on it.

Before you go out and purchace expensive cleaners or buy a wet dry vac. Go to your pantry and take out the white vinegar.

1. Fill a bucket with a gallon of water.

2. Pour a 1//2 to 1 cup of the vinegar in the bucket of water.

3. Take a rag and dunk it in the mixture.

4. Then scrub the stain with the rag, blot up, and repete.

The nice thing about vinegar is that it is non-toxic, odorless after it dries, cheep about a dollar for a gallon on sale, so you don't feel like you totaly wasted your money if it dose not work.

And if you do need to rent a cleaner, you can use the vinegar instead of detergent.

I've had very good luck with an enzymatic product called Simple Solution (or something very close to that) sold in a white bottle. You have to follow the instructions though - let it soak in completely then wipe off the excess, _wait 10 minutes or more_, and let the carpet air-dry. That's for a particular spot stain. If the whole carpet is stinky, try sprinkling baking soda on the carpet pile, leave it for about an hour and vacuum up.

Well, do you have a wet/dry vac? If you do remove the paper filter first... Wet the area with warm water and blot with paper towel or an old light colored towel so you can blot up as much of the urine as possible... Saturate again and use some regular foam shaving cream and work into stain with a bristle brush. Blot with clean towel.... Saturate with water and use shop vac to remove excess water. When dry sprinkle with baking soda and leave on overnight...Vacuum carpet.. smell /stain should be gone

i have one old cat that every once in a blue moon gets upset about something and pees in a corner or on a wall.....so here's what i do and it works great.

first i blot it up as much as possible
then i wash it throughly with soap and water (not a carpet cleaner---by hand with a brush)
then i rinse it throughly...and use a few towels to blot it almost dry.
I then spray "NATURES MIRACLE (for cats only)" all over the area and let it dry. Once it dries, i reapply the Natures Miracle at least one more time.
It takes the smell out and keeps them from returning to do it again.

there is Natures Miracle for dogs & cats.
i get it at the pet supply store.

good luck :)
