well, it depends on the book.

you can find all of the publication information inside the first few pages of the book. (usually between the cover page and title page.

the rest really depends on which book you are reading. if you posted this because you are trying to get out of reading the book you will need to read some of it otherwise your teacher will know that you did not and will mark you down. 50 pages isn't too bad to read, you could even skim through them just to get the main idea. If you do that you can find your answers simply because majority of these questions are asking your opinion.
