For this year, 2007, you may be too late. Pumpkin is a long grower, needs lots of days from seed to ripe, and there is a great need for water. It takes up to four months (120 days) to grow them.
So plug in "Pumpkin growing" in to Google and you can find sites that tell you all about it.

I'm not from Arizona, and I don't know how well pumpkins do in the summer in Arizona; but I'd say you should plant the seeds in May for them to be ready by October. If you planted them now, I'd guess that you'd have medium small, green pumpkins by October. I say this because I live in South Dakota and planted my pumpkins around May 1st, and I have green pumpkins in my garden. It's been about 3 1/2 months.

It probably takes about three months to grow them from seed; one way you can get them going sooner is to sprout them in the house and then plant them
