I am going to be senior in high school. I treat my supervisor as a friend. Is it ok to ask my supervisor her birthday? Also, will she think that I like her?

If you're friends sure go ahead. I don't think asking about her birthday in casual conversation would make her think you like her..... unless you said you wanted to check her zodiac sign to see if you two are compatible, now that might be a different story!! Good luck!!

How old do you think she is? If you think that she might think you like her, I would back out of it. If she's the type of person that doesn't try to find double meanings in things, then go for it. Just tell her you're going to get a group card for her B-day and you want to know when it is. Don't lie to her, just tell her what's going on. There shouldn't be a problem. I mean, even in a professional environment as mentioned above, there ARE limitations. If you like her, then I wouldn't do anything or say anything on the subject. No matter what you say, girls are very good at picking up on non-verbal cues. She will know you like her before you can say otherwise, that is if you do.

You obviously like her, that's why you're asking that question...

Seriously, a supervisor is a boss, even a friendly boss. There is a limit to be drawn, and you do not go into personal details. She needs to draw the line and you toe it - i.e., if she brings up a topic, then it is OK to discuss this same topic with her. It doesn't work the other way. If she brings up uncomfortable topics that you don't want to discuss, then it is appropriate to let her know.

A good working relationship is good, but just be aware of your limits.

I don't think she would take it like that. There has to be more sign that just asking her birthday to make her think you like her. You said you two are friends and friends ask those kind of questions.

It's OK to ask, as long as you are not asking to find out how old she is.

Maybe you could just say that you have a birthday coming up, (be sure it is,) and mention when it is, then ask her when hers is... That way you sound like you are pre-occupied with your own birthday, and not just trying to find her's out.

It's not strange to ask her her birthday. Just tell her you're curious when her birthday is. It's a normal question :o)

Sure it is ok to ask her birth date. She is probably more likely to think you are going to buy her a present then thinking you are attracted to her. If you ask her what her sign is, you might have a problem.

no- it is just conversation- open up the conversation about your own birthday and tell a short fun story then ask her when hers is?
