Southend in Scotland....then it wouldn't be connected to England then would it? Seems you didn't learn geography at school (LOL).

I believe there have been very vague discussions many years ago about a tunnel linking Northern Ireland to Scotland - the closest points I believe are Donaghadee in Co. Down, and Portpatrick in Galloway at 14 miles apart. However, there is not the same demand on the Ireland-Scotland crossing as there was at Dover/Folkestone to Calais/Boulogne so the finances don't add up (they don't really add up for the existing Channel Tunnel).
A fixed link from England to Ireland is even less likely, due to the much greater distance. Wales is closer than England, but is still probably much to far for a fixed link to Ireland.

It is hardly a feasible engineering feat is it? It is quite a long way. The strait of Dover was deemed too long for a bridge, so I can't see there being a bridge from Liverpool to Dublin!
Holyhead to Dublin would be more like it, but still an awful long way for a bridge to span, though Holyhead is in Wales, not England, and this span would be half that of one to Liverpool.
OMG I can't believe the person above thinks England and Ireland share a land border!!!!!

It would be easier to build a bridge between Ireland and Scotland as the distance is less.

It was proposed during the Victorian era the idea was abandoned due to cost and no potential profit .
