The company I work for just installed a Netgear Wireless Router in my office. They say they are monitoring our website activity and we can't get online anymore. Well, there is nothing to do at my store for hours at a time but get online(ebay, news, etc). Is there any way(other than have netgear login and change settings)for me to disable the website monitoring?

Thanks in advance

the monitoring is being done through your servers not your router. Unless you are an Administrator and have the correct clearance and password you will not be able to disable their monitoring. Also if you did disable it they would just reenable it and start looking for the person who did it.

No, and if there were you'd get fired for attempting it. Let's face it folks, companies like your's, hire people like me.

They pay me exceptionally well to setup a system to track what you do and where you go online. It isn't a system on your computer.

Think your employer isn't doing this? Guess again. Unless your employer has 10 or fewer employees, or is just too poor to afford a well trained Network Engineer, you have company brother looking over your shoulder at the server level, and there is very little you can do about it.

A on the spot modem router could be a on the spot router/modem mixture and a on the spot router might in basic terms be a router by ability of itself. in case you had extreme-speed cable information superhighway you will possibly choose a modem linked to a on the spot router to get on line.

If you've been told by an employer to NOT use the Internet and they're going to be monitoring this, and you're willing to risk your job by disabling, changing, or circumventing the rules, you either need a new job where they let people browse the Internet, or a new hobby like reading or sleeping. =)

They are not monitoring through the router. This is not possible. It is possible that they have some sor tof filtering device inplace to monitor activity. Is there a way around this?? not sure, but at least this info may help you make your question a bit more specific in finding a way around it.

Yes, get your own internet service and laptop.

Get Verizon or Sprint's wireless data service that uses their cell phone network for internet service. It's about $25 to $40 a month depending on the carrier.

That way, you can do whatever you please on the net and your employer will have no idea what you're up to.

Good luck,

Sorry. I was all jacked to respond about how quick people are to pass judgement on here then realised I was about to do the same thing. But yes they probably can't monitor your usage per the router. Good luck.

If you aren't going to give your employer your complete attention while you are getting paid, then stop taking the paycheck.
