Should they have to apologize for being wrong about WMDs --- possibly the biggest mistake in US history?

If ANYONE is forced to apologize and resign that voted for it then ALL of them should have to do it and leave politics forever.

Certainly not. Politicians that took the best information available at the time, and made a difficult decision, should not be wholesale forced to resign because of their mistake. This especially applies to those politicians who changed their opinion as new information became available- politicians are only human, and can only try to make the best choice they can given what they know about the situation.

Given the possible consequences and risks to our safety and security of assuming that Saddam had actually complied with the UN Resolutions and didn't have any WMD's or chemical arsenals left - coupled with the world consensus that he did, I would think it more appropriate for the ones who voted NOT to invade Iraq resign.

Democrats have done signed the resignation form, they will be resigning in 08 when Fred Thompson takes office.

Then again, most of them were deceived into voting that way.
