let's say one man fought in a battle, and he was outnumbered.
everyone believed that he died.
but few months later, he came back.
he wasn't perfect, but he could move around with out problem.
he didn't get any huge medical assistance.

how could this happen?

if he was knocked unconscious, he could wake up among the dead, the enemy might have believed he was just another corpse. the guy could have shell shock or temporary amnesia

It happened more than once during the world wars, injured men without papers not knowing who they are or which army they belonged to. blast victims could be be found naked, due to the force of the explosion

its called writing ability they do it all the time for a town called Hollywood. You will see this story , and many like it, produced it great amounts at a location called a video store or theater. Good luck

Pure dumb luck and a big will to survive... he was probably athiest.
