What can I do so that I can travel with my pet to Vegas, I live in hawaii.?

I want to know what I can do so that i can bring my rat with me to the Mainland. I'm staying there for at least 2 weeks. So do i have to keep him in a small cage? Do i have to keep him in quarantine? I don't know what to do!! Please be discriptive =]

I beleive that both the state of Hawaii and the US Dept of Agriculture have restrictions on transportation of live animals to and from Hawaii.
