I was working as a bartender and heard it on the tv at the bar and I remember I dropped the martini I had just made. I was totally in shock, and just could not believe that I heard it right. My customers in the bar were also in shock. Many were visibly shaken. It was an awful day, by all accounts, so so sad and such a waste...

I was 6 and in the living room watching tv with my dad and it came on the news. I didn't know what it meant, but I remember how shocked my father was to hear the news.

summer before i started college-i got home from work and my mom told me-i remember her adding, 'see what screwing around with drugs will do to you?'-a guy i worked with made the mistake of snickering when he found out-his mom got mad and kicked him out of the house-she cried for a week-of course, for a few weeks, i avoided the radio-one more elvis song and i would have joined him!

Actually Elvis died on August 16th.
I was at home, 5 years old. My father came home from work, saw my mother crying, then started crying himself.

God I'm old.
I was 9 at the Jersey Shore with my parents and at dinner at a diner my dad (HUGE ELVIS FAN) kept saying "wow they keep spinning his tunes" later we found out why.

I was little, playing in our living room and my mother saw a news flash and started crying instantly. That's about all I remember of it.

lets see that was1977, eh? I was probably in my parents garage working on one of my hot rods. By then he was a sloppy pig of a drug addict and though it was sad to watch his demise and hear of his passing by then he was not an artist I had any interest in.

I was babysitting and it came on the news, it didn't bother me I was never a fan & as he had lost his appeal in his latter years in my opinion.
I was more concerned when Marc Bolan (T-Rex) died a month later (also 30 years ago)
