I started out with only 3 banana trees 5 years ago. We now have 19. Each tree makes at least 1 to 2 shoots a year. I have found allowing them to get root bound in a pot makes even more shoots appear. My location is such that I have to dig up my trees every year, slicing off all the leaves and storing them in my cellar for winter.
As long as you take a piece of the root ball and some roots, it is simple to slice off the shoot and replant it. I have some I plant in the ground and they have grown huge. I actually had bananas (to small to eat) on my biggest one last year. I have read somewhere they have to produce 25 leaves before they will produce. Banana trees are easy to take care of and transplant...just lots of water...and possible replanting often if in pots ...did I say... LOTS of water!
As a side note, when cutting off leaves make an angled cut, the cut will leak and if the cut is angled back towards the plant it will drip back onto the plant and the angle will slow down how much liquid is lost.

I suggest leaving the original plants where they are, and doing what the jungle Indians do - wait for a shoot to come up from the main plant (its daughter if you will) and then dig it up and put it in the new location. In a couple of years, it too will provide off shoots - why, soon all the neighbors will want some off shoots.
Go to Google and ask there for insights. Typi in "Banana propagation".

it depends on how big they are. If they are still small, it is possible, but it may kill them. If you decide to go through with it, you should make sure not to cut the roots at all when digging them out and make sure the soil in the back is the same type as in the front yard.

YES YOU CAN MOVE THE PUPS OR SMALL OFF SHOOTS, THEY HAVE TO BE ABOUT TWO FEET TALL, BANANAS LIKE LOTS OF SUN WATER AND A SLIGHTLY SHELTERED POSITION. REMOVE SOME OF THE LEAVES TO REDUCE WATER LOSS. WE HAVE MADE A BED WITH SLABS SET 16 INCHES INTO THE SOIL TO CONTAIN THE ROOTS. MAKE SURE YOU GET A GOOD ROOT BALL AND KEEP THEM WELL WATERED. GOOD LUCK

True I love bananas, I would even give them to others so they could enjoy the tree just as much.
