Lately my period comes but only lasts for 2 days if that. I've gained some weight and am very tired, I was wondering if it's possible to still get your period when your pregnant. I also plan on getting a test soon.

The simple answer to this is yes. If a woman has a short cycle -- typically 21 days from first day to first day -- then she is actually ovulating on day seven of her cycle (the seventh day from the first day of her period). Because some periods last that long, it is possible that a menses may be just ending when she is ovulating.

Also, some bleeding may not be necessarily a real period. Occasionally, ovulation can cause some spotting, which can be mistaken for a period. A woman may think she is safe just at the most unsafe time.

Bleeding may represent implantation of a fertilized ovum, too.

It is best to see a health care provider to get all of this straightened out. Dates, ovulation and pregnancy are best handled with you, your wife and your provider sitting together with a calendar between you.

Thanks for writing and I hope this helps.

First off IanPR doesn't know what he's talking about. Yes, in the first few weeks of pregnancy you can have light ovulation. And in rare circumstances you can have light bleeding during the entire pregnancy, but it's very unlikely. Don't wait too late to get tested. Other things to keep in mind also are if you are going through any stress (school, work, family, relationships...whatever) that could be a sign you have a light, or shortened period. Weight gain isn't always a sign your pregnant, nor being tired. Talk with your doctor, see what he or she tells you. You could be experiencing an internal change that's making you sluggish.

Yes it is possible, some women have their cycle the entire pregnancy, while others will only have cycles for a month or two, and some never have one at all. Each person if different. What you are describing is very normal to experience for the first month or two. Many women spot or have reduced periods in the early months.

Yes, i agree, you can have period like bleeding throughout pregnancy.
Weight gain isn't necessarily a symptom of pregnancy, since you aren't supposed to gain for the first few months anyway.
Could your thyroid be acting up?

Yeah. I had a friend who had her period just like you said for 7 months into her pregnancy. She was really athletic too and her belly didn't poke out till close to 7 mos. Good luck.

I never had my period when pregnant.I knew 10 days after conception as the hormone HCG stops your period coming,I have heard women can still get it for a couple of months though

It is possible, but as others have said it is very rare. Your best bet is to talk to your gynocologist and see what's going on: whether you're pregnant or not or need to have your monthly cycle regulated.

Good luck

Sounds like your pregnant..being tired is a big symptom. its possible that your "period" was implantation bleeding

It is highly unusual. You probably have an irregular cycle due to weight gain.
