It depends on their character. I'm o.k. if the person is clueless. I mean I wouldn't smack a mentally challenged individual for pulling my hair or saying something inappropriate. However, if it's someone that knows better and did it maliciously, well, lets just say they would only do it the one time ;) You also have to take into account a person who gets caught up in peer pressure. A friend that says something hurtful just so they can fit in with the crowd. Those I treat the same as a mentally challenge person, since they probably are too immature to make the correct decision.

No, u can't run away from pain. Coming from someone who has been hurt also, u will learn to deal with it. It's ok to cry and grieve and u should, cause u have to let it out. Don't let it console u or mess with ur days, just live and remember that it will eventually go away and u will be ok.

When someone hurts me, I let them know that what they did or said was hurtful and wrong, then I step back and put it into perspective for myself so that I can deal with it. Finally, I try to learn from it, so that I won't be put into the position to have it happen again. Hurt me once, shame on you. Hurt me twice, shame on me.

I think you should first take a look at the motives, the facts, and then really look closely at the person who hurt you.
Are they the type of person you would expect to do that again?
Are they REALLY a friend?
Friends don't intentionally hurt one another, they make you feel better about who you are and where you are in your life.
Friends should tell you the truth, but they should also AFFIRM you and make you feel safe and loved.

If its an emotional hurt, I kind of just try to find a happier place in myself....listen to music, read, meditate, go for a walk or drive.....if its a physical hurt, I cry, then run.

I dont think you have to hurt them back, because by then you will be just like them, and make them feel like how you feel, all you to do is do nothing, and try to forget all about it 'cause anyone hurts doesnt deserve to think about.

I have done the running away thing. But they just follow you. Now I go into a deep depression. So I'm not a good person to ask.

Physically: I instantly hurt them back.
Emotionally: I learn from it, so that it doesn't happen again.
Verbally: I rise above the insult and respond with positive facts.
If you run away you will never gain strength from the experience, only insecurity and fear.

I usually cry a bit and avoid them for a few days until I get over it and then I move on and act like nothing happened so that they don't think they got the best of me.

I usually just try to figure out what the REAL reason is behind the hurt.
