its not childish one bit. love can touch us for a second and last until we die. if you are lucky enough to come across a person that TRULY TRULY touches your heart, they will stay like that forever because fate put you two there. god bless.

Not childish at all. Perhaps a little dreamy. LOVE evolves………….
When I was very young, I thought that love happened only once in our life time. I now believe that LOVE comes in stages. That it is learned in lessons, growth and with each new relationship.
As a child we love our parents, that is everlasting. As a teen we fall in love for the first time and it does leave a lasting impression. In our 20's and even 30’s we meet and fall in love time after time, each leaving something special with us. A memory, a moment, a heartache , a void, a longing…………….
As we grow and age, I think that what we REQUIRE from LOVE is new meaning, purpose and definition.
What we wanted when we were 16 wasn't what we wanted when we were 21. But we hold onto certain broken relationships for what they did offer us.
I do think that we linger in LOST LOVES way too often, that we harm what could be with the LOVE that we are now involved with.
Do I think that LOVE can touch us “once” and last forever? No I don’t. I think that the memory of some relationships stick with us forever because of the connection made on a couple of levels at that time. I think that we cling to “what could have been” instead of what could be.
TRUE Love is the grand prize, for living through the masses of indecision. Real LOVE is what happens when we gain from those we remember that taught us so much about what we want and DO NOT want.
LOVE is: what happens when we let go……………………….

Ahhh love. Webster's defines love as a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties, Love is an amazing thing, and it can hurt someone very badly, but more importantly it can make someone feel like the best person in the world. So in response to your question, yes, love can touch us one time and last forever. It is a neverending disease with no cure, but it is the best disease you will ever have.

It did for me. And, even though my dear wife passed on fourteen and a half years ago, not only does the memory linger on but the love does as well. I suspect it will be there when I draw my last breath, and I very much hope it will continue after that.

I believe that real and true love is forever, and that no matter what happens with the relationship there will always be love. This has a tendency to make things very complicated when the relationship is poorly timed or no longer existing.

Yes it can, but it can also touch us several times. You can love someone more than once.
