Yes bullies , whether workplace, cyber or schoolyard or just regular bullies, demeaning people does seem to make them feel better about themselves, because they have no empathy, so social skills and have lousy self -esteem. So the only way they can make themselves feel better is by trying to make someone else look inferior so they'll look superior.

Except I think most people are onto them now.

It can for a while. But this type of behavior usually results in the person poking the fun having an unrealistic image of himself/herself as superior or better than the person being made fun of. This image is costly to maintain and great pain is experienced when reality pokes holes in this bubble from time to time. Also, feeling better-than distances oneself from the perceived inferior person. Thus, it's a more lonely world is created. It's lonely at the top you know.
Remember, every behavior that you observe people doing has a payoff, otherwise it wouldn't be done. Although the overall, long-term balance may be negative.

No it really doesn't. It is just a reflection of themselves how they feel about themselves, and thinking that they can open an suggestion to anybody else the same idea. When in reality, all they are doing is drawing attention to them for really lookin like the fool.

Good Luck

Insecure people with inferiority complexes who are unhappy in life love to make fun of other people. They put others down in an effort to raise their own self esteem; however, it is just another signal that things are not well in their own lives.
