We had a contract for our wireless service with Verizon and I wanted to upgrade our phones. I went to what I thought was a Verizon store.
Well 2 fast talking salesmen told me if I wanted to upgrade my phones I would have to sign a new contract. They also told me I would not be able to keep the numbers we have had for years. They said our new service would only be $10 more a month (all lies) Turns out they just sell contracts to verizon for a commission. They copied my drivers licence and debit/credit card.
My husband was upset when I got home with the new phones saying he wanted to keep his old number. So we had our old numbers tranfered back. A month went by and neither one of our phones were working right. My husband went down to the verizon store and he was told they were old discontinued phones and worse yet we now had 2 contracts. Verizon cancelled the other contract that day.
Now 60 days later they got into our checking acct. and withdrew $400. I want to know if that's illeg

The only way that its okay for them to charge anything to your account is if u didnt return their phones but canceled the new lines (look at the return policy on the invoice and it should clarify this). if u did keep the phones you should have gone back and cancelled the new contract, to switch it to an upgrade and paid the difference if need be. if u did cancel the entire transaction w them and returned the phones, then they are stealing and that is defenately illegal!
