The outstanding Polish contribution to Allied victory in WW2 was in 1939, when Marian Rejewski handed over to the British cryptographers at Bletchley Park all the progress that he and his colleagues Jerzy Rozycki and Henryk Zygalski had made from 1932 to 1938 on deciphering messages in the "Enigma" code used for German military communications. The British had the resources to automate the deciphering method. The outline of the story is in Chapter 2 of the book below, and many other books with more details are listed on pages 421-423 of it.
