Try the Western Slope like the Grand Junction and Montrose area. We have Cimmaron and Dallas Divide both about 30 miles from Montrose. We also have the Uncompahge National Park. You could also visit Ouray, Co known as "Little Switzerland of America " The is the Syrucuse Mine tour, the Hot springs, Box Canyon, and all kinds of unique gift shops. It is about 45 mins from Montrose. The colorado National Monument is just outside of Grand Junction. We also have Grand Mesa with great lodges and about 150 different lakes. If you go east of Montrose you can hit Blue Mesa Lake great fishing!! We also have the Durango Silverton Narrow gauge Railroad train Ride
