If you really think about it, The Republican Party is only running on a few key issues:
All of which indorse governmental policies in-line with Christian idealogy, despite the fact America is multicultural and will continue to grow as a diverse country.

The Republicans run on anti-Abortion, Anti-Gay marriage, the War on Terror, and the War on Iraq.

They stay far away from issues like universal healthcare, global warming/ environmental improvement, anti-job outsourcing and improving the conditions of the poor (those living under the Federal Poverty level).

They avoid these issues because they don't know how to answer them and are afraid they'll upset their ceocon/christian right base.

NOW, THE DEMOCRATS ARE THE EXACT OPPOSITE. They want to talk about the environment, healthcare, and improving the environment because these issues appeal to the middle class and poor.

However, they don't wanna talk about ending the war on terror or Gay marriage or abortion.

If they do this, they slide to the Left of Center and upset the swing voters who are anti-gay and anti-abortion.

The thing I notice is that the Republicans sell themselves through fear and bumper sticker mentality. They put issues/ lies/propaganda forth and repeat them to bang them into your head.

If they sell a lie, they will endorse it 24/7.

The Democrats however don't preach their convictions like the Reps do. The problem is, they are too soft going after Bush - HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN IMPEACHED BY NOW and they aren't quick to expose and reiterate the scandals of the Republicans in office.

If they appear soft its because their propaganda machine isn't oiled well enough.

Let's boil this down to its purest form.

If you want the government to attempt to solve all your problems and you think there are a handful of people in existence who can figure out a way to redistribute the wealth in a way that will make everyone happy, then vote for a Democrat.

If you believe you are the best steward of your money and that the government does not have all the answers, and that the handful of people cannot ever make decisions that will make EVERYONE happy at once, then vote for a Republican.

Universal health care is a Democrat issue because for some reason, the Democrats believe that if the government takes over health care, it will magically become more fair and efficient. You don't have to be a Democrat or a Republican to know nothing could be further from the truth.

Global warming is a Democrat issue because Democrats created the panic so that they could stand up and say "elect us; we have the answers." Again, you don't have to be a Democrat or a Republican to know that nothing could be further from the truth. Look, Republicans don't want to unnecessarily spew a bunch of crap into the air and the groundwater any more than Democrats do. It's the NEWS MEDIA that would have you believe otherwise, and all because the Republicans as a base simply want more research and more solid, difinitive answers before starting a worldwide panic.

There are plenty of Republicans out there who do not ever want to be lumped in with the Christian right. The news media lumps us all together, but it just isn't true. I am not a Republican because of some arcane religious ideology, and neither are any of my friends or family.

There are also those who are a little shaky on the Iraq war thing too. I'm not so sure we shouldn't have gotten out right after busting Saddam Husssein.

Like you just typed, peoplewho are really religious, anti-gay, and for the war would go for Republicans, while I am an anti-communist I would go for the Democrats, but same time I am an anti-abortion person. It all depends on different people's views. Some I know only care which up-coming president of the party has the best views, they don't care about the parties.

But right now, the Republicans are being unfavored by the people. Due to the Bush administration. Maybe if President Bush did some improvement with the war and improved the country status, maybe things might turn around.

Thanks for clearing out what was the Republicans and Democractics views for me, I got confused from my other friends.

Honestly, you're not even asking a question - you're just using the board to spread your own views, in the form of propaganda. Nice...sheesh.

This is a totally loaded question, as there is no "better" or "worse". This country is based on multiple views coming together to form a union. It's not a homogenous, liberal free-for-all, hon. Study up a bit on history (past the last 30 years) and government, and then come back and ask a question that's actually a question.

You are allowed to have an opinion, to state an opinion, and to vote according to your opinion. That's what living in a democratic republic is all about. It's the basis of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence (you might try reading them sometime).

However, when you spend your time hate-mongering and trying to appeal mainly to people's emotions and hot-spot issues, without anything deeper, you negate everything that this country was based on. Try doing a little research through source documents, not just Nancy Pelosi's agenda.

And why the heck is this in Teaching, anyway?

The real problem is it seems the extremists in both parties are running their campaigns. I know a bunch of atheists (myself included) that identify more with the repubs despite the fact that they Jesus things to death, and make a big deal over stuff the government has no business in. While on the demo side we have calls for "free" health care (we can't afford it, god damn it) and a "villiage" mentality...what's yours is mine, and what's mine is yours.

So, pick your poison. They both suck for their own reasons.

Well I think it's clear which party you've sided with, lol. I think both parties have good qualities, and both parties definitely have really crappy qualities. I have to disagree with the bumper sticker thing though- I've seen WAY more liberal bumper stickers than I have conservative ones (unless you were speaking strictly metaphorically). My question to you is- why is this in the teaching section?
