either bad valve seals or your piston rings are shot, the valve seals are cheap to fix but the rings are quite an expensive job, all depends how well you like the car if you fix it or not or you could buy a new crate engine and install it or a rebuilt engine.

A couple of the guys are right, depends on what's causing the oil burning. I've seen cars, especially chevy's, which didn't have regular oil changes that sludged up so bad that the oil return holes in the heads clogged and the oil ran down the valve guides. All it required was a pan and valve cover gasket set and cleaning everything before changing the oil and filter. That happens worse in cold weather with cars that are driven short distances. Still there are several things that could cause it which are relatively inexpensive to fix. Find a trust worthy mechanic and have him assess it.

It means your car is burning oil and you need to have the rings replaced depending on the car year it may not even be worth the money it will take to fix the problem you might be able to buy something that will fix it an additive or something

Well thats his opinion, here is mine. depending on where its burning oil from it could be well worth fixing. the one thing you forgot to mention is the vehicle. I have seen some that you replace the pcv and it goes away. I have seen some that need the motor replaced. it all depends. the one thing you need to look at is the vost of repaires versus the age and condition of the vehicle........

It's burning oil
As to how it is doing that, thats anyones guess at this point, it could be as simple as adding too much oil to as complex as new piston rings.
