if you value your engine I would put the premium fuel in it or suffer the consequences down the road.

If your truck requires premium fuel it is because it has increased compression in the combustion chamber. This is usually from after market "add ons" If you run from 8 - 9.5 to one compression regular is ok, Any higher compression and you want to run at least 91 octane. If you don't you'll get a knock in the motor eventually.

Yes. Spark knock, or pre-ignition can result from not using the right fuel, this can lead to engine failure. What I do is I will add enough octane booster to make up the difference. this allows me to run the cheaper fuel. But I don't practice this is the heat of the summer, usually I only do it in the winter months.

Never put low octane fuel in a high performance increased compression motor. Eventually you could burn some valves, hammer the the tops of the pistons to death from pre-ignition,sparknock and heat plus bake the rings in the piston ring grooves.

top rate gas won't harm your engine. according to risk your computer if your owners handbook demands a decrease grade gas. in case you have a extreme overall performance engine than that's cautioned which you utilize a a procedures better octane, yet different smart that's not necessary. good success and want this helps.
