Many people think that history is a dull subject. Dull? Is it "dull" that Jesse James once got bitten on the forehead by an ant, and at first it didn't seem like anything, but then the bite got worse and worse, so he went to a doctor in town, and the secretary told him to wait, so he sat down and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and then finally he got to see the doctor, and the doctor put some salve on it... how could you call that dull?

I'm a history major, but I thought that joke was hilarious! From my studies I've learned that Jesse James went home afterwards, had a nice meal, and then went off to bed.

No, it's not dull. We will be history some day, and do we think we're dull? I'm big on certain parts of history from watching the BBC series Henry the VIII and also on the civil war because I read a lot of books concerning that time. My dad is a total expert on WWII because he was a teenager at the time and followed the whole thing. Times might change, but people don't, and people are always interesting.

History is not dull, most people are just used to today's fast paced, action packed news and movies so they have a predisposition toward fast paced action. The phrase, History is repeated is true because most people don't take the time to learn from history to avoid doing the same thing again.
I'm a history major btw...

you don't get taught stuff like that in school. all through high school i asked every history teacher i had when we would be learning about Alcatraz b/c that was one thing that really interested me but we never did. it was pissing me off when we had to learn the history of Iran and not the history of America. we were only taught that part of sophomore year and junior year but we didn't get to cover much. Things like 9/11 interest me. When ever there is a movie about it on I don't miss it. But they don't teach you things like that, they just read out of the book and that's it. We had to learn about government as well then our teacher made us watch a movie about a guy going to Washington.

That bit was dull but there are some very interesting things in history. That wasn't one of them.

Yup it sure is. But it has to be learned. Its especially boring when you read about U.S. history and Texas history (Which is where I'm from) Hitler is a big reason why. Because no one knew he was keep on taking over countries. So its important. Thats why were fighting this war. (Even though i think it's pointless and innocent lives of soldiers are being lost for no reason). and thats why history is so important.

history is full of lessons to those who want to learn from it.
do you want to say that this is a historical episode to justify that history is dull. in fact it is when we read it as subject at school and dislike to be examined in its DULL STORIES that we arent concerned with like this one you narrate here. but when we CHOOSE the figures , the time, and the timing that catch our personal interset, history comes to life , and we like it, repeat to our friends the episodes we like best . try this strategy then pass on your fair judgement.

i think history is fascinating. i get annoyed with people who say it's boring or they have no reason to learn it. i get even madder when someone says they don't need to take math because they're never gonna use it. an education makes you intelligent. i know a kid who was never really educated and this kid can talk and communicate but the look on her face is idiotic.
sorry i got off the point
