So Im going to be having a new room mate and the thing is I dont know how to let him know I dont want to have to deal with a bunch of parties at the house. Im a very low key type of person and Im not saying that he can never have people over I just want to make sure it wont be a every night thing. Is it even my place to say since he will be paying half the rent. The lease will be under both our names.

You should of both sat down and went over the rules before you moved in together. This is a good idea even if you are the best of friends. Being roommates can be a tricky thing and can end a friendship. Know what is expected and you should be alright. Set up certain guidelines like parties only on Fridays/Saturdays, no friends past 10 on weeknights, etc. You definitely need to discuss household chores and cleanliness. Write up the rules and you both sign it. I know that may sound cheesy but I have had several roommates and believe me this is the best policy. Otherwise, put the lease in your name alone. Good luck.

Tess you might want to sit down with this person and let them know that you'd appreciate if he wanted to party hardy that he go elsewhere. Although he will be paying half the rent etc., doesn't mean that he needs to make your life a living hell. May have been best though to let him know when you rented the space to him to have let him know at that time. Best of luck and hope you two can indeed work things out to both your best interests.

Unfdortunely if you both are on the actual lease then it is his house as well and that the real estate agency won't pick sides etc. Hence if it ever gotto a point where one was trying to kick the other out there is NOTHING that can be done should you both wish to stay.

Say to him what your feeling and give it ago. See how it pans out. If he does start annoy you wait a few times then say something to him.
But communication is realluy, really, really important
