How could you possibly be the only one? The person who wrote the song is thinking/feeling the same way. The people who buy that record feel the same way, and so on, and so on. It's a small miracle when a song touches you like that.

When I split up with an X Cold Play's the Scientist came on the Radio. I really related to this song, espicially the bit about knowing it wouldn't be easy, but never knowing it would be so hard, and taking it back to the start. It really summed up how I felt at the time, and even now I can't listen to that song without feeling tingly inside. (NB, this is the same ex that I wrote a question about getting in contact with on facebook a while back. I never got in contact with her by the way!)

Yes all the time since years and years, people, places, times and emotions can all be recalled by songs, some can be unbearably painful to hear. This is something I've never had reason to discuss before, probably a private thing as often the memories stirred are the ones i'd most like to block.

oh definitely! that's why some people are obsessed with songs, they can relate to it well. a lot of times i relate to those annoying little teen pop songs about the guy, you know the one! and just songs that are about going through a tough time like Stand in the Rain by BarlowGirls. well anyways, everyone is like that! but the one i love the most is What I've Done by Linkin Park because it really inspires me to change my ways and forgive myself. :]

women do this all the time, i see them sitting there looking into space dreaming about their past life or boyfriends. some even make future decisions concerning their lives based on the words of a song. it's a song and any reference to you is coincidental, live in the real world and stop dreaming.

I think everyone has a personal soundtrack to their lives.
I was born in the late fifties so was a teenager in the early seventies. Hence I relate prog rock, old ska and reggae to that period; school, old friends, flirtations, etc.
I relate other music to when I 1st started work, left home, had my 1st serious relationship, etc.
Well all have our own soundtracks in our heads.

Mine's 'Million Miles Away' by utilising Hanoi Rocks. Of all songs i've got heard, that's fairly the only one that as quickly as I first listened to it completely- unquestionably completely- captured what grew to become into occurring in my life.

It happens to me all the time. I avoid some songs just for that reason.

yeah something i have always thought deeply about, and makes me wonder is, in a situation in a film there is music playing, but if you were in that situation in real life, there would be no music playing.

Linkin Park's "Numb"
"I'm tired of being what you want me to be"
"all I want to do is be more like me and be less like you"
The lyrics remind me of my parents. They have tried to change me for so long and make me into ... well ... them.
It sort of says what I've been trying to tell them for years.
