Does anyone know the ends and outs of owning one...for example...are they good with kids, train easily, and from a person who has actually owned one...what is the best thing about owning one and the worst thing? I fell in love with one at a pet store, but I have only had dogs so I am not sure if one would work well with out family.

They will grow up to 100-150 lbs. They need vaccinations and dewormings and hoof trimmings. Are very intelligent. Make sure you can are zoned to legally own one. Good site to look up lots of info:

Okay, I've owned pot-bellied pigs before and mine were NASTY! You can own pigs providing you have a "holding number" supplied by defra in england or wales or serad in scotland. You have to apply to them for this and it is allocated to where your pigs are kept. (check out their website) They must be tagged with your tag. Apparently, the UK are going to be initiating a new law that requires micro-chipping instead of tagging and this could be costly for you. I believe that you are not allowed to feed them slops anymore. Only proper pig feed. They are healthy animals as long as you give them decent care. They need to be mucked out often as they pile their mess up in a corner and it can get pretty smelly and compacted. They can be VERY aggressive. Ours were nasty as hell. They can have a very painful bite! And if they decide to barge you out of the way, there's little you can do. You would need a good sized living area and land for them to forage in. They will quickly reduce a good field to mud so make sure that if you are renting land, that you inform the landlord what you intend to keep on it. And lastly, most unexperienced people with pigs over feed them. They are not meant to be very fat. Treats are nice, but don't overdo it. A pig will always "eat like a pig" if it is allowed. If you get piglets and raise them they could be very friendly. Boars tend to be more aggressive on the whole. Good luck.

Pot Belly Pigs are great animals but they do get really big and can get rather expensive. Are you planning on keeping it outside in a barn or in your home? I would def. research this before you make any decisions.

Here is a site that gives a lot of good information
