you look at the oil dipstick and notice a milky substance in the oil, what is most likely wrong with the car?Would the car be worth fixing? BTW, its a 85 Honda Accord

You blew the head gasket. The milky substance is a mixture of oil and coolant, normally kept separate by the now-useless head gasket. You've also lost engine compression and therefore power. The white smoke is due to burning coolant. A head-gasket failure is very expensive to repair, it can easily go upwards of $1200. Probably not worth it.

Doesnt sound good at all. Sounds like the engine is on its last leg.
Considering the make-model and year of the car in my opinion its really not worth replacing or rebuilding the engine. But thats up to you. How is the body on the car, and the interior?
What i would do is go out and get another car, and just keep the Honda around. You probably can still use the Honda a "Get around town" or emergency back-up car - to run to the grocery store and such. But pretty soon the engines gonna lock up. Just take it easy with the car for now, no long trips or serious highway driving.

Old enough sounds like water in the oil. New Honda Accords are mid size cars now. And the civic is larger than your accord and much safer.

That's the classic symptom of a leaking head gasket. It wont be worth fixing unless you know someone who will repair it and not charge alot for labor. You might think about donating the car to charity also.
