For the most part I pick the best answers right at the four hour mark. However, there are times when I leave them longer to give my contacts a chance to answer them :)

I chose some best answers from last night this afternoon. Maybe something is going on within the system. I know that in the middle of typing an answer the other day, they changed my screen around, and made me lose the answer. They are working on this site--and apparently not everyone is feeling the affects of that at the same time. You should still be able to choose a best answer to your own question in 4-5 hours. It does take 3-4 days to VOTE on someone else's unresolved question. I hope that your situation is soon fixed. :)

Yep im also very lazy! I usually wait until people get their heads up and a simple couting of most heads up makes me choose the best answer. But then sometimes when im feeling a bit more lively i tend to read the answers in detail and choose the fair best answer rather than marking people on their thumbs up. Most of the time people go around giving people thumbs down if they dont like their answer and sometimes that answer tends to be the most detailed and accurate! =]

It depends on the question and how many responses I'm getting. If I have a specific problem and haven't gotten a solution yet, I wait. If it's just a silly poll or something, I usually give it about 12 hours.

I am not on here THAT much! i end up waiting until the dreaded email that i always think is gonna be a good email from someone I like, and then its Y! hooking me back to Answers and reeling me in like a helpless trout.
Yeah anyway, lately i have just been letting my answers get voted on because for some reason I am getting the 3 points anyway.

No, usually I wait a day or two, it depends on how many answers I have. If I don't have one that answered my question with the correct information, then I usually let it go to vote, or extend it.

I only do that if I think it will be reported, so the best answer can get the 10 points before it's deleted.
Usually I wait until it turns yellow, to give everyone a chance to answer ... by the time it goes around everyone's contacts, that can sometimes be a good number.

I always pick my best answers but usually not before I get an e-mail from yahoo. And it's because I'm lazy too. Plus I have a horrible memory so that doesn't help much either.
