Getting a female spayed is technically called an "ovariohysterectomy." Ovario means they take out the ovaries. Hysterectomy means they take out the uterus. The answer is NO, once you remove the interal organs that cause the females to go into heat, there is not more heat cycles. And, your girl pup will grow up to be a girl dog. So get the girl pup spayed and it'll solve your problem.

No, female animals do not come into esterus or heat once they have been spayed. You need to have your dog spayed prior to the age of 6 months, or wait until she's a year old for the surgery if you want her to develop a little more fully. The other writer is correct when she says that female dogs in heat cannot be spayed until they come out of season. The reason for this is because the internal reproductive organs enlarge greatly during esterus, which in turn makes surgery to remove them risky and dangerous to the animal. That's why most vets will refuse to perform spay surgery on a female in heat unless it's an emergency situation. Hope this answers your questions.

funny you ask that, because i have a girl puppy. we just got her, and she had an appointment to get spayed, but the day before we had to cancel it. Our vet was a dummie, he didnt know but she is in heat. I dond know, but i dont think she has to go through heat just to get spayed. Just a tip, if you do get a girl dog thats in heat before she gets spayed, she cant get spayed while in heat. She will blead, and will be in heat for 3 weeks. Its actually pretty sad, because my mom was endlessly washing blood off the couches and chairs, so today we went to petsmart and got her diapers! she is adorable in them, but its kinda sad. she only took one off once. You might think its mean and cruel to put a daiper on a dog, (or not, i dont know you) but if you do, your cruel and mean (haha) because we just couldnt handle it! All im saying is, if you really want a girl puppy, dont let the being in heat stop you! If you get her diapers right away (which we didnt) it will be just fine.

No. When a female dog is spayed, the ovaries are removed, so no hormones are released, and no cycle, no heat no problems.

You get her spayed before she is 6 mos of age, and you don't need to worry about her coming into heat at all..

once spayed or neutered dogs loose all desire to do the dirty deed. so the girl dog will not have any more cycles after surgery for this. no mess, no puppy's, no boyfriends.
