I once asked here about new powers that no super hero had ever used before, and nobody was actually able to come up with a brand new one. You have to think of using old powers in new ways.

There are several ways in which you can make a hero unique. One is by giving him unique strengths and weaknesses. Why is he only super strong with his left hand...? Why do brussesl sprouts take away his powers...?

I don't know, that's part of your work as the writer to come up with a good origin.

Another thing you can do is to specialize. Try a character with all kinds of extra senses, but no combat abilities. He would have to work with a team to be effective, but he could be very valuable,. He could detect the bad guy's secret weakness, or the power pack in his doomsday device, but it would be up to the other heroes toput it out of commission.

Try a hero that learns everything. He has telepathy and hes constantly reading everybodys mind (but he can't send thought, only read them) He has a perfect photographic or eidetic memory and can learn instantly, He reads the mind of a surgeon, he knows how to perform surgery (but he's not licensed as a doctor) By collecting a lot of skills, he could save many lives on various occasions.

There are physical limitations, psychological limitations, all sorts of things your character can have. How did he get his powers, why did he decide to become a superhero instead of a major league baseball pitcher (say) if he can throw a 500 mph fastball?

Is he invisible all the time...? (that would be easy to draw!) Is he huge or shrunk a lot of the time? Some people like drawing from those perspectives.

Is he really a hero or is he just one of those anti heroes...? If he really gets off on his super strength and constantly looks for bad guys just so he can beat them up, maybe he should be called Anger-Management Man...!

Does he always have the same powers or does he switch every so often? Does he copy or borrow powers from others around him? Does he HAVE TO use one power together with another one, or in a certain sequence, for them to work at all?

These are all just ideas. If you can, get a hold of the rules book for Champions, the super hero role playing game. It has a whole character generation process in there, complete with a lot of the things I have mentioned and more. It is well worth reading just for ideas.

If he wants to become a comic book artist he does not have to create a new character. If he can find a writer to work with hew can draw their character. There are also books out there with sample scripts that artists can practice with. Cherck with a local comic book shop or in the list available on my Creating Comics website at http://geocities.com/watchthisspaceent/tutorial1.html

If he wants to write comics and create superheroes, here's an idea: Think of someone you like and admire and what skills or abilities they have, or think of a skill or ability that you have that, if only you could do it better than anyone else in the world, it would be your super power. Then make that the super power for your hero.

You can also try thinking of times when you wish you could do something. Think of what super power you would neeed to accomplish that thing. Would it incolve the use of your mind or your body? Would it involve communication with people, animals, machines? Woudl it involve explosions? Force beams? Projectiles? Perhaps a new body part? Maybe a skiol that would come from years of practice, a bolt of lightning, a chemical or pill, a time of the day, phase of the moon, or position of the stars? The limitations are only those of your imagination!

everything has been taken , the best bet is to create a character and focus on the surroundings/character , rather than the powers . You can fly all you want , but if there is no story behind it , it's meaningless . Or why is he flying ?

But to answer your question . How about this one .
Omnipotence , the power to do whatever you wanted in the hands of a teen turning into an adult who is never satisfied with anything and actually has morals to fall back on .

increadably boring man......he can put anyone to sleep within 5 mins. in all honesty there are already over 200 different superpowers he can use that are not the "superman" type of powers. if he really read comics he would know about that already
