If there is a supply of 15½ pounds of sunflower seeds, how many packages of seeds can be packed?

First you need to convert the 15.5 pounds into ounces. To do that, multiply 15.5 and 16. That will give you 248oz of sunflower seeds. From there you need to take your 248oz of sunflower seeds and divide it by 3 1/4 to figure out how many total bags you can make. Since 3 1/4 is a bit tough to deal with, let's convert it to a decimal (3.25). So now we're dividing 248 by 3.25. That will give you 76 packages with about an oz left over.

Back to the fractions. If we convert everything to the quarter ounce (qto), this can easily be computed. For example, 3-1/4 ounce = 3*4 + 1 qto or 13.
