It depends on the answer you want.

General Motors calls it a Sport Utility Vehicle. It's a multi-person vehicle on a truck chassis.

Though, most states will call it a Station Wagon for registration since it's a multi-person vehicle, and the only categories they have are: Truck, Car, Station Wagon, and Motorcycle.

Vans are also counted in the Station Wagon category.

XUV's are typically the smaller SUV's.

The suburban's chassis is a truck chassis so therefore is a SUV.

Some state's registration does not give an SUV option, therefore it's listed as a station wagon/car. This is to your benefit because car fees are typically cheaper than truck registration fees.

Tahoe is SUV. The older versions were smaller and just may have been XUV, but the more recent models are definitely SUV.

I own an older dodge Ram charger it is what some people would call an suv and is similiar to the suburban. It is considered a station wagon by the dmv and is registered as that.I believe the term suv was invented to add excitement and to imply a funner more off road capable vehicle compared to the negative family boring type vehicle status of the term station wagon.I would just consider your suburban as a more capable and exciting station wagon with potential off road capility and enjoy it it right to the fuel station. The tahoe would be a glorified station wagon also.

It is an SUV, plain and simple. I don't know where people get that it is a station wagon. The Suburban does sit on a long bed Silverado chassis, though. The Tahoe is also an SUV. It is just a slightly shorter version of the Suburban.

It is an SUV. A station wagon uses a car platform and engine and usually has a sedan version. Station wagons are also smaller than SUV's and they are much closer to the ground and not meant for off roading. Station wagons also get better gas mileage and they cannot tow as much weight as an SUV can.

Since the Tahoe and Suburban are truck based, they are SUV's. A station wagon is based on a car chassis. An XUV is a crossover utility vehicle, which is an SUV wanna-be on a car chassis.

Suburans are SUV's. Just the same way Ford Excursions and Expeditions are. They are all based on truck frames.

The cross-overs utility vehicles (XUV) are all car based, SUV wannabes. When it comes to registration time, ZI would think that it should be classed as a truck. They may try to class it as a station wagon and maybe save you some on taxes.

good luck.

I used to work for the tag office. According to the state of Florida, all SUV's regardless of size are considered Station Wagons (SW on the title!).
