Well, it's called "junk food" for a reason... it's not healthy for anyone, much less a baby. That's not to say that it will cause great harm to the baby, though. The biggest problem is that when you eat junk food, you are filling yourself up with things with a lot of calories but pretty much no nutritional value. That makes you less likely to eat healthy things that you and the baby both need. Poor nutrition in pregnancy can lead to complications, including pre-eclampsia, and make giving birth more difficult. It's not a big deal once in a while, but you should focus on eating healthy snacks so that you are sure to get in all the nutrients you and the baby need.

as long as you eat healthily on a daily basis, an odd bit of junk food, once or twice a week will do absolutely NO harm whatsoever.
If you eat junk food INSTEAD of a healthy diet however, its a different matter, because not only will you put on extra weight (which could cause problems regarding pre-eclampsia and gestational diabetes) but you (and perhaps your baby) will miss all the nutrients you get from a balanced diet.
what is important is that you do eat all the nutritionally foods - i.e. green leafy veg, tomatoes, get plenty of iron (you'll need that), eat foods rich in calcium (cos the baby will take all of yours), protein, drinks lots of fluid esp water. Cut down on sugars. Eat lots of fruit. You'll be alright. But your baby certainly wont suffer ANY detrimental effects if you hit Burger King once in a while.
Congrats by the way!

It is definitely best to eat healthier foods that are high in protein, vitamins, and carbs. This doesn't mean that you have to give up all junk food. I am 12 weeks pregnant and there are some foods that I just can't stomach. My body only wants apples, cheese, waffles and soup right now. Everything else makes me want to puke. I try to eat meat for dinner but I just feel sick. My doctor said that i've only gained 2 pounds and that thats ok. He says to eat what I can stomach.

with my 1st pregnancy i did everything by the book and i still lost my baby so now 2nd time around i have anything i fancy in moderation (except the things they say are dangerous of course) and im now 25 wks gone. My only problem is the weight gain but everything seems fine with my little one so as long as your eating a variety of foods and not just junk alone and you include fruit, veg etc you should be ok, sonia xx

I was told by the dr. not to eat any junk food/take aways either. The risk seems to be in the chance that you might get food poisoning. I still ate some every now and then!

I ate everything its the only time you can eat anything you want and not worry about gettin fat because you will anyway. Some women dont eat junk because they are afraid they won't get there pre pregnant body back, or they think it will make the baby hyper active or whatever but when I went to my ultrasound my dr told me to eat a ho ho and drink a mountain dew to get the baby to open its legs. Its competely up to you. Alot of people just want you to eat good so your baby and body don't become malnourished. Don't just eat only junk eat a little bit of everything.

Well it's more of a issue for your health, which in turn poses issues for your child. Too much junk can lead to serious extreme weight gain. Extreme weight gain can lead to diabetes. Which in turn can really really impact your baby and labor. Also, chocolate has caffeine which isn't good for baby either.

It isnt overly bad for the baby bt some of the fats and proteins go into the baby. Eating oily fish is the best thing for your baby as it is proven to be brain food. if you like oily fish, eat as much of that as you can. Do not eat lots of battered fish though.

Diabetes is usually treated through a combination of diet (low sugar), exercise and medications/insulin. Milder cases can be controlled with just diet an/or exercise while more severe cases require meds or insulin as well.
