This the the problem with trying people in the media. The public rarely sees all the evidence, and sometimes they see things the jury doesn't. People formed an opinion on guilt or innocence based on very little, often just the opinions of their friends or their personal feelings about the accused. It's telling that in the US most whites believed OJ was guilty and most blacks believed he was framed by the police. If you ask people why they think Michael Jackson was guilty, most will say some version of "well he's so weird," as if that was eveidence of a crime. Thank goodness the American constitution requires that a criminal conviction be based on "proof beyond a reasonable doubt." In both cases the prosecution failed to meet that standard, althouggh OJ later lost a civil case, for which the standard is only "The preponderance of evidence."

I understand your astonishment. Mine came when the BBC World Service interrupted their regular programs to bring a live report on the jury's verdict in the O.J. Simpson case. I count that day and time as the beginning of the downward spiral in quality news and information emanating from Bush House in London.

Absolute total loss of faith in the US judicial system. Money talks. The black subculture is an abject failure. The blacks here will never get over their history of being slaves in America. Most of the whites are post slavery immigrants and have no idea of what the blacks are talking about. The blacks have wheedled welfare money out of the government that suits their image of themselves and have no sense of shame in accepting. Crime is disproportionately associated with the blacks. The public schools have had to pass on to the next grades blacks who cannot pass a simple subject, otherwise they would be 14 y/o's in 2nd grade. Affirmative action passes on to blacks favors of promotion and jobs that they are not qualified for, especially in the government. All the major cities have been defaulted over to the blacks. All racist comments are suppressed except for black comedians who can skewer the whites at will. It is hard for blacks to have a 'normal' family as single parent homes appear to be the norm. 75% of the men are either killing each other, in prison, on the way to prison, or on parole from prison. There is a poor desire for education in contrast to the Asian minority who desire more education.
The whites do not fear race riots in America. It would be too bad. But that is not a particular concern. If they want to burn down their neighborhoods, have at it. There are many blacks who are good people, want to work and do work. Most of the blacks who are above average will move out of the central cities as fast as they can. They have no answers for the problem either.

I can't believe hey were acquited either. The witnesses in the MJ case changed their story though, so that didn't help.
