Hi I have a Gateway notebook with vista, just 3 months old. When I got it, It seemed to attach to the the wireless settings on my desktop xp Sony just fine with my Linksys router. But in time it started being eratic, dropping the connection and now, though it recognizes the connection, says there is nothing wrong with the connection, I cannot get on to I-explorer.... though it tells me how many email I have waiting, and keeps me updated in my weather settings... and logs on to the Msn today page.... and I can do messenger in Yahoo and MSN... Its nuts....! I have updated all hardware and software... and drivers... I have gone to Gateway...with no help... to AT&T... with no help... and I even got a new Linksys router...nothing....nada...zip! Everyone seems to think it is a vista problem... and Vista seems to think it has no problems... give me some answers... Please.....????

Try running anti-spyware and anti-virus scans. Your machine may be infected.

the laptop you have become is plenty able to Vista. And in case you get XP and want Vista later, you will could purchase a clean reproduction, while some variations of Vista comprise "downgrade rights", so which you will deploy XP and alter back to Vista at any time. secure practices is stressful, actual, yet so are the hundreds of people at here who consistently infect their desktops with trojans. I view UAC as a attempt: whilst you're clever adequate to understand a thank you to coach it off (that's rather particularly common), then you somewhat can do without it. in case you may no longer turn it off, then you somewhat're those that somewhat want the annoyance to maintain you from doing stupid. to those that ***** that their utility does not artwork: have you ever tried actual-clicking this technique or shortcut, picking "properties", going to the compatibility tab, and selecting abode windows XP? abode windows XP does not play dissimilar video games from abode windows ninety 5, the two. Compatibility is already a non-difficulty for many new courses.

I'd take a look at the Linksys Router -- when I bought mine a year ago it was a complete piece of *(@$@. Now a year later, after many Linksys Firmware upgrades from their website, it is semi-reliable. You may need to apply firmware updates.
