when the radio loses power it goes into anti-theft mode and you have 3 shots to enter the proper code or it locks you out for about 24 hours before you can enter the code again.

As for the code--if you are the original owner you should have received a white plastic card about the side of a credit card that has the anti-theft code on it. check with the owners manual and papers if you received them. If you can't find the card there are other options.

look inside your glove box for a white labelabout 1" long and 0.5" high. the white tag should have two rows of numbers on it.. the top row will be 5 digits and that will be your anti-theft code. If you only see one row of numbers that are about 9 digits long, then that is your radio serial number and the dealer can get the radio code for you if you give them the serial number.

if the tag isn't inside the glove box, look on the back of the ash tray. if its not there, check under the trunk lid. the dealers usually put these tags in any of these three places during the predelivery inspection.

If you can't find the tag with the code on it, then follow this procedure. with the key in the "On" position so that the warning lights on the dashboard are on and with the radio turned Off, hold in the buttons numbered 1 and 6 with your right hand. As you are holding the buttons in, turn the radio on with your other hand. You will see a series of 5 charactors starting with the letter U followed by 4 numbers. write them down (you can release the buttons when the first set of numbers comes up). Then the numbers will change to a second set of charactors starting with the letter L and followed by 4 numbers. Write those down. then call your honda dealer and ask them to retrieve the radio code for you. those numbers are the serial number for the radio and you will have to give it to the honda dealer to get the code.

once you get the anti-theft code if you're still locked out, you can disconnect the negative cable of the batter and leave it off for 3 minutes to clear the memory or you can pull the "back-up" fuse from the underhood fuse box and leave it out for 3 mintues. then either reconnect the battery or replace the fuse and you will be able to enter the anti-theft code.

hope that you find the stickers, but hope I gave you some other ways to get the radio back up and running without spending any money.

Depending on the model year...when the car was at the first dealership it was sold at they did what is called a pre-delivery inspection. 05 and under there should be a couple white sheets of paper with the car paperwork that the technician wrote down the code. Also if it is over a 05 it should be in the maintenance manual. I worked at a honda dealer for 6 years. If you cannot find it they will give it too you. The only time they have to reset it is when you tried the code to many times......hope this helped

If you purchased the car, go through your paperwork.

You'll find a card for the radio that you should have had pointed out to you by the salesperson. It has the code numbers you need to key into the station keypad buttons.

If you need to go to the dealer, expect to pay a price for the reset. You got the code when you bought the car. You'll need to keep it where you know it is for problems like this.

I work for a car dealership and I'm pretty positive they'll just give you the code... also, if you have a civic, you may have the code in your manual... i believe the code is just your radio ID number... if that doesn't work, go to the dealership... they shouldn't charge you for it!

Yeah right! to the 1st answerer.......you think a dealer is gonna give you that code? Think again! He will tell you to bring it in and their mechanic will reset it......$100 please! Those codes work universally on all the same models radios, if they gave that code to the wrong person....well you could image a number of outcomes!
