I've been here for 3 years and I absolutely hate it. Horrible air and some really bad parts of town. Not to mention the only good mall we have has had a few shootings in the past several months.

Over 250,000 people live in Bakersfield. Some of them even like it.

It's very hot and dusty, and has some of the dirtiest air in America. Many people there have health problems from respiratory disease to cancer, caused by the high pollution levels. Culturally it's rather a backwater, and many people speak with Oklahoma accents.
