My hubby and I both have laptops - his uses Windows XP, mine uses Windows Vista. We have a wireless internet connection set up, and have tried to set up file sharing. He can see my computer on his network, and can access files from my computer, but his computer is not showing up on my network. I have tried every suggestion that the help button offers (modifying firewall and Norton, ensuring network discovery is on, modifying properties of the network), but it has gotten me nowhere. Any suggestions?

I already tried adjusting the firewall on my husband's computer. I've also tried using a network setup wizard on both computers.

Including the Netbios settings as suggested ensure the following

->Since you have Norton installed, you now have two firewalls. Disable one, to eliminate further problems and then ensure that file/sharing is enabled on the remaining one. You may need to create an exception list which will exempt a network range or one computer so that it wil not be blocked.

-> (Optionally) if you have user accounts with the same user name, password and access level on both computers, this will make access and authentication easier. Both XP/Vista do the following: Start Menu ->Control Panel ->User Accounts

->(Optionally) if you place each computer in the same work group, this will make it easier to see each other. Right-click My Computer and proceed to properties. A window will appear allowing you to change this. On XP you will have to proceed to the Computer Name tab to do this after selecting properties. After you place the computers into the same work group, you can create use

Yes, the firewall is blocking netbios (used for windows networks). Setup a TCP/IP file sharing application or adjust your husbands firewall settings.

The hub telephone works nice, plus night and weekend calls are unfastened. We took out a 12 month settlement with BT, they're no worse than the different provider provider as regards help desks etc. it is nevertheless early days for us, we regarded in any respect the different available innovations and so far we are inspired with the homestead hub.
