His fastball is touching 95 still. He has a great changeup, one of the best in the business, but he is now in an entirely different role. Instead of being a closer for one of the worst teams in baseball, he is now the setup guy (maybe even 7th inning guy) for one of the best teams in baseball. He hasn't really pitched in a pennant race in 4 years. He is in a new city, which is known for chewing up and spitting out athletes, just ask Julio Lugo, JD Drew or Edgar Renteria. Give him some time, but in the same sense I'm very very worried. Right now, I look at Gagne as the 5 man out of the 'pen, behind Papelbon, Okajima, Delcarmen and Timlin. Heck, if Javier Lopez was back up from Pawtucket, I might take him over Gagne right now. He needs to get his head on straight and he needs to do it quickly.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...That was me when he came into the game today. Why didn't they leave Okajima in? I honestly don't know what they can do with him. He has not pitched well one single time yet. Tough for him if he misses being a closer, he knew what he was coming into when he agreed to be traded to the Sox. I wouldn't give him too many more chances though. The Red Sox cannot afford to keep losing games like this. I felt so bad for Schilling today. At least the Sox are still in first place and lets hope it can stay that way! GO RED SOX!!

Croisus is so right. This guy needs to be shipped off to the Paw-sox.

If they don't, he shouldn't be pitching in any game for the Red Sox when the lead is less than 7 runs.

He was garbage before you got him. He use to be a great closer but that was a few years ago. Now, all you Red Sox fans can do is just watch as the Yankees catch you, win the division and hope that you even get in the playoffs. Good Luck with that!

no... they should put him on the DL... so he can get rehab assignments in Portland so the Seadogs can win the Eastern League championship again...

Theo sucks he should be fired promptly at the end of the season... they needed a bat... not a RHP who hasn't pitched in two years... they needed a Dave Roberts type guy...

also.. Drew sucks they didn't need him... Willie Mo sucks they didn't need him... Gabbard had value cause you'll need a lefty fr Yankee stadium...

I think they should use him in situations where they are way ahead to see if he can snap out of his slump. His pitching has been horrible in Boston, and he has already blown three games!!

Chow!!

1. Change his name to Gagme.
2. Send him down to Pawtucket for the rest of the season.

i think we don't have time for him to get used to pitching with us or get settled in or watever. not saying we trade him, but bring him in with more margin for error... and if he does badly again pull him out before the damage is done!

Bring him back to Texas. He obviously does better there, and you guys already have Papelbon.
