My dad said my friend and I could go swimming tomarro. But I'm in my period...My mom is out of town, or I'd tell her. Its to weird to tell my dad.
My flow isn't very heavy, do you think I should just use a tampon, or say I don't feel like swimming? I feel great..For my period, lol. And I want to go! What should I do...And do tampons work for you while your swimming, how often should I change mine while I'm there?

I remember being your age and wondering the same thing (my mom never told me anything!). Yes, you can go swimming. Change your tampon as often as you would change it if you were just hanging out at the mall; about every 2-4 hours depending on your flow. You won't leak--promise.
The only activity I don't do when I have mine is bike riding; feels uncomfortable to me.
If you need to ask a "mom" (I have 4 grown ones), you may send me an email.

I would use a tampon and go ahead and enjoy your self if you really do feel like going. Tampon are good for swimming and if you aren't going real heavy then shouldnt be a big deal. As for changing them if you dont go heavy then you wouldnt have to every often and it depends on the strenght of the tampon, for light, heavy, ect.

Go for it! You will have no problems with swimming with a tampon in. Just change it as soon as you get out and get dressed. BTW you may want to tuck the string in so it isn't showing out and doesn't wick.
Have fun! :)

well im 11 and i have my period and i go swimming all the time when i have it. when you are in cold water that stops the blood flow so you dont really have to worry bout it just put a tampon in before you go and as long as you arnt in and out of the water every 5 seconds you should b fine. when your bout to leave then put in a new one so on the way home it doesnt leak. but if it would make you feel better then once every hour go to the bathroom and wipe and c if there is any blood on the toilet paper if there isnt it is fine if there is then change it.well i hope this helped! hope you go and have fun!

You can use tampon without problem if you wish. Tampon is inside or your body and your vagina really closes around it when tampon is inserted properly - thus water will probably not enter your tampon. Check on it and see how it works for you, but definitely remove used tampon after you are done with swimming and use new one.
Good luck and enjoy your swim.

Just put on a tampon and let your friend know that you might get out of the pool early cause you are tired of swimming.
