We have 2 Wii's and 1 Xbox 360 in our house. The Wii's work (kinda) well, But the the 360 and one Wii is on the 2nd floor, and I cant tell you how far the 360 is from the current router (50 feet, mayby), but I CAN tell you that it goes thru about 8 walls at the most. I need a router that can get me 5 bars. Please help.

Hi

No router will be able to do that , BUT you can try access points , in other words , just buy a router wish has access point capable you may need like 2 or 3 for the distance , then just configure them so that the signal can go from one to the other to other and so on , remember that you HAVE TO PUT SECURITY IN THEM so that way NO ONE can access it

Here is a site that discusses range extended wireless routers. You can also get a Linksys range extender that will work with any existing wireless router and does a great job. Very easy to setup and I am using one at an EMS unit to go to the construction shack where they are building there new building. (about 200' and going through metal walls and ambulances)

I beleive you are asking the router to reach beyond its range. Wireless signals do not penetrate well through masonry, metal (ducts, silver mirrors, etc), and other obstructions. Going through walls always weakens the signal; going through numerous walls or floors only adds to signal weaknesses.

Run a wired CAT 5 cable to your location; add a second wireless access point with DHCP disabled and you are probably ok.

Wireless is NEVER to be considered so powerful as to reach everywhere. It just is not.

8 walls is a lot. Your best option is to use a wireless range extender between the router and to remote equipment.

make a 2 custom directional antennae.. one for one of the antenna leads from the wireless router and one for the xbox 360's receiving antena, and aim them at eachother.
(google 'DIY directional wifi antenna')

or run ethernet cable.

or get another wireless router/access point/wifi repeater..
(this uses WDS (wireless distribution system), and is not the easiest to set up.)

WDS must be supported by all wireless routers used. (your current router may not support)

you need high gain antennas not a new router. search for antenna at the following site, it'll give you the idea.
