If feminists want equal rights, why do you see them in the streets protesting?

in marches for the right to sign up for the draft?

NOT trying to sound sexist, but this is a topic me and my g/f got on today. Equal rights are EQUAL rights, right? Even if it's things you don't WANT to do, but HAVE to do. That's my opinion.

I agree with you. In my opinion, the feminist movement failed... women are now exploiting themselves and other women. I don't see a reason for protesting, I'm pretty sure that we have equal rights here in Canada. I guess I am a feminist because I believe that women are equal to men, but I'm not the type that would protest. I agree with SPARKLES, saying that feminists can be sexist in a way too... those really aren't real feminists, they sound more like raging feminists to me.

Why would feminists want to go to war to be shot at? I'm sure they wouldn't object to being given the right, but nobody's going to actually say "give it to us". They'd probably get it if they asked long and loud enough. Being drafted is not an honour, it's a necessity - and a country with a draft is desperate. Besides, the draft isn't needed at the moment.

You do seem them protesting, just not as much now as say back in the 80's and 90's. Women have alot more rights now then they used to have.

I just realized that you are talking about the draft. I dont think that women should sign up for the draft, nor should it be something that we have to do. We are not men. Someone has to take care of the world, and men are certainly not going to do it. So, let the men go off and fight, let women go off and fight if they want to, but it shouldnt be something that is not a choice.

I agree with you completely. I think women should have to sign up for the draft just as men do. I had this conversation with my ROTC teacher in High school, and with my soon to be in laws, both of which were in the military. I just think its right. Equality.

Why would they protest to have the right to die? And for that matter why dont gay guys protest for that too? And anyway if everybody was up for the draft canada would be overpopulated if a time did come when we needed a draft.

feminism was is good but many take it too far. some women (not all) with feminist attitudes can be sexist towards men and want to bring men down and make them sound like perverts. one teacher i knew who was a feminist said to me after i said i chose to stay single for my career: "men ba*tards who need 'em?!" and i thought my god that is sooo sexist, may father was a meany and no good but i REFUSE to stick a label on all men. some men are fantastic fathers and husbands/boyfriends and nobody will give them the credit for it!
