Not sure Blair kept changing it - apparently now you can be arrested for 'Terrorism' and held almost indefinately in the UK just for existing. And apparently we all support that even though on average (excluding the mess we created in Iraq and Afghanistan) about 400-500 die from 'Terrorism' worldwide every year - by comparison there are there are 250 million cases of water-related diseases with some 5–10 million deaths each year in countries that are too poor to care about 'Terrorism' and to weak to stand in peaceful protest.

I think the protest in question is a more general one about climate change but they have set up camp where the third heathrow runway would be built if it got the go ahead. There is also a group of local residents who want to protest about the runway itself taking an interest in this groups activities.
Anyway, I digress.
They say the police have been allowed to use anti-terror laws to police this protest, I don't know why as I was always of the belief that a 'peaceful' process was totally legal in this country.
I think as long as they are not harming anyone, let them get on with it . . .

I forgot to mention that as part of their protest they will actually go to the airport to disrupt its activity one afternoon - maybe this is where the anti-terror stuff comes in though I still think that's a bit harsh unless they are planning to use bombs as part of their protest but that would seem against their ethic given they are protesting about climate change don't you think?

What the BAA. have done is taken out an injunction against certain individuals/groups who in the past have sought to put there point over by violence, other groups have already started to arrive at the airport but have to stay a certain distance from the airport for security reasons and they must not obstruct or impede anybody wishing to use the airport

The authorities will find some byelaw dating back to the Doomsday book or Magna Carta which stops the protesters being there and then enforce it with strong-arm tactics. Because in the end, 'Money Talks'.

There was a court injunction taken out by BAA, but the protesters are not protesting on BAA land so it has no effect!

Peaceful protest is still allowed in the UK...but it is despised by the establishment.

If you are white and middle class and English, you cannot protest against anything. If you are from an "ethnic minority", you can get away with murder.

Just in case any bonehead wants to brand me racist, I'm not; I just tell it like it is.

All the protesters have to do is have a few coloured ethnics with them and they are guaranteed to be left alone.

Yes, if they are protesting on private land, or causing a public nuisance.
