25x + 5y = 30

Transpose 25x

25x + 5y - 25x = - 25x + 30

5y = - 25x + 30

Divide both sides of the equation by 5

5y / 5 = - 25x / 5 + 30 / 5

y = - 25x / 5 + 30 / 5

y = - 5x + 6

25x + 5y = 30
25x - 30 = 5y
(25x - 30) ÷ 5 = y
5x - 6 = y

Hi,
This is a problem of manipulating the terms using the addition and multiplication/division properties of equality.

25x + 5y = 30
5y = -25x +30 (Subtract 25x from both sides of the equation.)
y = -5x +6 (Divide both sides by 5.)

Hope this helps.

5y = -25x + 30
(divide both sides by 5)
(5/5)y = -(25/5)x + (30/5)
y= -5x + 6

25x + 5y = 30
____ ____
-25x -25x
______________
5y = -25x + 30
__ __________
/5y /5y
______________
y = -5x + 6
______________

you have to isolate the variable (y). so first subtract 25x from both sides. your equation becomes 5y = -25x +30.

you still need to isolate y by getting rid of the coefficient. so divide both sides by 5.

your answer is y = -5x + 6
