hi i have 1 jumbo hermit crab and 4 littles ones, i have a 20 gallon tank and every thing, could he be stressd becouse he is the only jumbo hermit in the tank? P.S. this jumbo crab is with the little one's

hi i have 1 jumbo hermit crab and 4 little ones, i have a 20 gallon tank and every thing,i got him 6 days ago. he is the only jumbo hermit in the tank, and he lost his leg.help.

mine would lose their legs and then theyd die...

Hermit crabs lose their legs when they are stressed. If you let this go on too long, they will die.
Make sure that the inside of the tank is the right temperature and humidity. You'll need a tank thermometer and a humidity gauge to do this. If they are new, leave them alone if until you have had them for a few weeks. Also make sure that they can dig, have climbing branches, have a hideout, cave, or "hermie hut" and that they have food and water. They must also have enough space; get them a ten gallon tank. they don't they just shed really thick skin. if your hermit crab is loosing it's legs then something has to be wrong.
