Might as well get to the heart of it, hadn't we?

No -- they don't need to be eliminated.

They need to grow up and stop throwing temper tantrums every time they don't get their way.

The problem is not in the beliefs of the religions -- its' in the fundamentalists and fanatics who try to ram their religion down everyone else's throat...

When was the last time you saw a Buddhist commit terrorist acts in the name of their religion? Centuries ago at best. Becuase they grew out of it.

I believe the elimination of these religions could only happen by eliminating everyone who claims to be a Jew, Christian or Muslim. Therefore you would have to kill billions of believers to achieve "world peace"?

In short, we will never have complete peace as there are those who want to control others by the use of force whether they do/do not have a religious affiliation.

No, because I think that humans would still seek an answer to the unanswerable questions (where did we come from, where do we go, etc.), and this would lead to the rise of another group of religions...which would in turn lead to the rise of another set of dogmas that people think are mutually exclusive.

What would be far more effective is if religions would simply live up to their own creeds of love and peace.

Do you actually think that the world would be at peace without them? People will always find something to argue about, and feel that their view is the only correct one. No matter if it's religion or something else.

How would you or anyone else manifest such a ridiculous notion. I believe a man named Adolph may be able to suggest some failings in that spectrum. Really, practiced consciensciously, all religions, as far as I know, mean well and teach others to love. Today's terrorism stems from extremist Islamists who bent their religion to a point where it was never meant to go.

well brother i liked ur question but my answer is no
this will not solve the problem what i think is that we are not using our brains
for example last month queen of britain named salman rushdee as sir salman rushdee ( u do know him dont u he is the guy who abused our beloved PROPHET MUHAMMED in his book muslims really hate him) now y do u think muslims should not get angry

suppose i abused JESUS CHRIST (which i will never never ever do) u will get angry on me and some of the christians will also try to kill me (wont they)

there is a guy in ur answer who said that ISLAM is an extreme religion which tells u to kill every non-muslim i would ask him where in QURAN its written that u kill a non-muslm if he showed me that verse i will leave ISLAM and become a christain if he does not that i will think that i was right and he was wrong so tell him that i am waiting

i would humbly request to anybody who reads it to study QURAN and u will answer to ur questions

Did you know that people kill each other for food, if that person is from that neighborhood, if that person has an XBox, if that person looked at me wrong?

Religion is not the core of violence retard. Its EMOTION you monkey. Like the emotion you get from being publicly humiliated.

You can get rid of religion, but we will be at war for some other reason.

NEWSFLASH: When men were monkeys they were killing each other too.

If by the word "elimination" you're referring to there being no religion at all and not the massacre of billions(have to check with you yanks sometimes) then I agree with you entirely.

To quote the immortal Stephen Fry

" Religion...sh*t it"

No, I have not observed any random killing by Jews and Christians lately. However muslims seem to be doing most of the killing so maybe we could have peace if they were the ones eliminated.
