Yes, this has happened to me several times.

Once I was twirling myself on a swingset and as soon as I got on my tiptoes and twirled a little more, I could no longer reach the floor. As soon as my feet let go, the swing started twirling uncontrollably, I was left spinning out of control.

This can also happen when you are skating. It's lots of fun.
